Artist Julia Persson-Morrill has had a life long interest in Dala Horses but didn't start to carve and paint them until just a few years ago. Some of the wooden horses are sold out of her studio, she can often be seen working on them out in her garden. She is happy to show the horses or share her skills with visitors all summer.

Pink Flower Horse
I never do both sides of a horse the same, You never look at both sides at the same time so it's nice to have a bit of variety by turning it if you get bored.
This horse will be an ornament so after I've put several layers of a nice clear coat on it (I'm spraying this one with an indoor/outdoor polyurethane) I'll be adding a screw eye and a pretty hanging cord.
Photography seems to be a challenge too. As you can see there's quite a difference in how it looks under different lighting conditions.
